Location Sound Services

Based in East Anglia, UK, production sound mixer and location sound recordist Jonathan Blagrove has been working in the film and broadcast industries for the past 18 years and trading as Coda Films since 2015.

Passionate about capturing sound for picture, Jonathan understands how important it is to get it right on location first time and how good production sound can help drive a narrative.

Experienced at working across different genres and at various budget levels in features, Jonathan has also worked in broadcast factual entertainment and documentary, working on BAFTA nominated network projects all over the globe – sometimes working in extreme environments and on some highly sensitive subjects.

No matter what the shoot, Jonathan will bring a professional but easy going approach to any production.

I have worked with Jonathan on a number of projects and he has always been a delight to work with. The majority of our work together has been on observational documentary, often with vulnerable contributors and not only does he always deliver great sound, he works around any issues that may arise with a calmness that puts both crew and contributors at ease.

I’ve worked with Jon all over the world, in extreme weather, with extreme people, wild animals – every potentially disastrous shoot you can imagine. He is always the one you can rely on to keep calm and just get the job done.

He takes his work seriously while seeming entirely relaxed, and knows exactly when to stop and push for better sound, and when to make the best of a difficult situation without interrupting the sync. Editors love his work, because he always goes the extra mile to get atmos, and he makes sure everything is organised and labelled for the edit. He’s the first person I call when I need a sound person, who’s a sound person.
